I don’t have my permit yet. Can I still participate in the program?

No. Participants must have at least a valid permit to take part in the program. In Michigan, this means teens must have completed Segment 1 of Driver Education and hold their Level 1 Learner’s License obtained from the Secretary of State.


Will completing the Teen Street Skills program help me get an insurance rate reduction?

Yes, you may be able to get consideration for rate reduction. Please check with your insurance company, as all companies are different. At the end of the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion which you may need to show to your insurance company.


how long does the program last?

The Teen Street Skills program typically consists of two independent sessions in the morning and afternoon. Participants select one of the sessions, which lasts for approximately 3 1/2 hours, broken down into modules including Skid Control, Emergency Braking, and others.


Do I need to sign up online or just register when I get there?

You must register online for all Teen Street Skills programs. There is NO on-site registration…all spots are filled through the online registration process.


I am enrolled in a program. What time should I plan on getting there?

Onsite registration/check-in opens 30 minutes prior to the scheduled sessions. You do not necessarily need to be there right at that time, though, as your spot is secure. While space is limited, your online registration has guaranteed your spot in the program. The program starts promptly at the scheduled session time.


what happens if it is raining on the day of the event?

Teen Street Skills runs rain or shine. Inclement weather often contributes to traffic incidents so practice should not be limited to just warm, sunny days!


what should I wear to Teen Street Skills?

Please wear comfortable clothes for the event, as you will be getting in and out of cars throughout the program and walking to the different exercises. Dress appropriately for the weather/temperature.


my parent / guardian wants to come along…can I bring them?

Yes, you can absolutely bring your parents. In fact, it is encouraged that parents attend, as there are great learning experiences for teens and adults, alike.


are food and/or drinks provided?

We provide coolers filled with bottled water.
